What is Hypnotherapy and how can it help me?
What is Hypnotherapy?
Hypnotherapy is not what a lot of people think it is. It is not a stage act. More people are becoming to realise how much the process can benefit them, and it is becoming more popular. As more and more research is showing how effective it is in treating anxiety related issues.
Hypnosis is a relaxed state of mind, a bit like day dreaming and can only have a calming affect on you. Combining CBT and talking therapy along with hypnosis your anxiety will be greatly reduced, therefore very early in treatment you feel more calm and relaxed.
During sessions we begin with an explanation of the brain, which will help you understand why you feel the way you do, and what you can do to create change. Together we work to enable you to come up with the solution to your particular problem.
Everyone has past events in life they would rather not talk about, however during Solution Focused Hypnotherapy, we DO NOT have to revisit them. Past experiences have been and gone. We cannot change them, but we can move on from them.
What should I expect at the Initial Consultation
During the Initial Consultation, We will discuss what you would like to achieve from hypnotherapy, along with a simple health questionnaire. You will be given an MP3 Relaxation to take home and listen to each night before sleep, this will help with the process.
Will I be doing things I do not want to do?
Not at all. I use Solution Focused Hypnotherapy, and all sessions are positive and uplifting, we do not talk about negative events past or present unless the client wishes to do so. If they do want to discuss something it will be done at the beginning of our session.
Hypnosis
During hypnosis you are fully in control. The best way to explain this feeling is we have two parts of the brain one is very positive and one can be very negative. During trance the two minds come together and focus on the same thing, then we have access to the subconscious. We are able to think about positive thoughts. Because you feel relaxed, this helps break down barriers, which cause the unwanted behaviours and patterns in the brain enabling you to build new positive behaviours and patterns. Which ultimately will help life to becomes more manageable and easier to deal with. Making it much easier to be happier and be more in control, and able to cope better.
How many sessions will I need?
Each individual is different. You may only need one or two relaxation sessions, providing there are no other underlying issues. But on average treatment usually takes between 8-12 sessions.
Each session lasts approximately 50 minutes.
