Hypnotherapy FAQs

What is Hypnotherapy?

Hypnotherapy is a technique involving guided hypnosis to achieve deep relaxation and focused attention. In this relaxed state, your subconscious mind becomes more receptive to positive suggestions and therapeutic imagery, aiding in addressing issues like pain management, anxiety, and behavioural changes.

How Does Hypnotherapy Work?

During a hypnotherapy session, a trained hypnotherapist guides you into a relaxed, trance-like state. This process quiets your conscious mind, making your subconscious more open to suggestions. The hypnotherapist then employs positive affirmations, visualizations, and other techniques to help you reach your goals.

Is Hypnotherapy Safe?

Yes, hypnotherapy is safe and natural when performed by a qualified, trained hypnotherapist. It doesn't involve mind control or manipulation; you remain fully aware and in control throughout the session.

Can Everyone Be Hypnotized?

Most people can be hypnotized to some extent, although the depth of hypnosis varies individually. Factors such as willingness, relaxation, and trust in the hypnotherapist significantly impact hypnotherapy's effectiveness.

What Issues Can Hypnotherapy Help With?

Hypnotherapy can assist with a variety of issues, including but not limited to:
• Pain management
• Stress and anxiety reduction
• Smoking cessation
• Weight loss
• Improving sleep
• Overcoming fears and phobias
• Enhancing performance (work, sports)
• Healing from relationship and heartbreak

How Many Sessions Will I Need?

The number of sessions needed varies per individual and the issue being addressed. While some may see significant improvements after one session, others might require multiple sessions to achieve their goals. Your hypnotherapist will develop a personalized treatment plan for you.

What Happens During a Hypnotherapy Session?

When you book your initial consultation, we will discuss your goals and what you need help with. You will then complete a medical questionnaire, and I will provide you with audio files to listen to each night. After a week, you will return for weekly sessions.

In Week 1 and all subsequent sessions, we will engage in talking therapy, incorporate elements of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), and conclude with a relaxation trance (the hypnotherapy part). This combination of treatments is supported by evidence showing its effectiveness.

Will I Lose Control During Hypnosis?

No, you won't lose control during hypnosis. You'll stay fully aware and can exit the hypnotic state whenever you choose. Hypnotherapy is a collaborative process where you're an active participant.

Can Hypnotherapy Make Me Do Something Against My Will?

No, hypnotherapy cannot compel you to act against your will or moral values. You remain in control of your actions and decisions throughout the session.

Is Hypnotherapy Scientifically Proven?

Numerous studies support hypnotherapy's effectiveness for conditions like pain management, anxiety, and certain behavioral changes. However, results can vary from person to person.
